Title Description
Instrument Maker / CNC Machinist We seek an individual with extensive CNC machining knowledge to join our instrument lab’s technical staff. The successful applicant will work with other machinists, engineers, and scientists to design and build the next generation of instruments and telescopes, with opportunities to contribute at all levels through design optimization, fabrication, assembly and testing.
Mechanical Engineer We seek a full-time individual to join the team for an initial two-year placement, but this could be extended pending future funding and mutual agreement.
Mechanical Technician We seek a full-time individual to join the team for a two-year placement, but this could be extended pending future funding and mutual agreement.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Program Carnegie Observatories operates several post-doctoral fellowship programs in observational and theoretical astronomy and instrumentation. The Carnegie Fellowship, Carnegie-Princeton Fellowship, Carnegie Theoretical Astrophysics Center (CTAC) Fellowship, and the Carnegie Origins Fellowship are available for the November 1, 2021 application deadline, i.e., for fellowships beginning in September 2022.
Staff Scientist The Carnegie Institution for Science invites applications for one of several expected staff astronomer appointments at The Observatories in Pasadena, California over the next few years.
